Project Objectives

CBP has the following specific measurable objectives, achievable within the timescales of the proposed duration of funding:

  • to develop further the theory of vector field tomography, by extending the current research to 3D
  • to apply this methodology to the inverse EEG problem, where effective brain states will be defined and used to study the relationship between the electric activity of the brain and cognitive states
  • to investigate the uniqueness of the mapping of the true states to the effective states and work out the many equivalent states, if the mapping is many-to-one
  • to identify correlations between features extracted from the effective states of the brain with actual experiences, in order to use them in communicating with patients unable to communicate, e.g. people in coma, infants or mentally impaired
  • to investigate alternative state of the art approaches, like connectivity analysis
